What Is a "Shirt for Drinking Days"? The IMADEYA × UNITED ARROWS Sake Art Tee
KAMPAI Editorial
"The excitement of a day with good drinks, worn as clothing." That's the concept behind the "Sake Art T-Shirt," a collaboration between IMADEYA — one of Japan's leading specialty retailers of sake, wine, and craft beer — and UNITED ARROWS BOTTLE SHOP, the beverage label from fashion brand United Arrows. After more than a year of joint development, the shirt is now available for ¥6,600 (tax included) in white and black.
Mochizuki Michiaki's "Sake" Character, Stitched into Fabric
The chest features artwork by Michiaki Mochizuki, a visual artist whose distinctive calligraphy of the character "酒" (sake/alcohol) has long been part of IMADEYA's brand identity. Rather than printing, the design is rendered in embroidery — a deliberate choice that gives the brushwork a textured, dimensional quality against the cotton fabric.
The idea came from customer requests to make IMADEYA's iconic art something they could actually wear.
From Drinks at Home to a Night Out
The shirt uses an organic cotton blend jersey at 6.3 oz — substantial enough to hold its shape, light enough for everyday wear. The dropped-shoulder, relaxed-fit silhouette runs from M to XXL, designed to layer easily with whatever else is in your closet.
In white, the embroidery blends subtly into the fabric. In black, it pops. Two different moods from the same design.
A sake shop and a fashion label spending over a year on a T-shirt might sound unusual, but the idea of "clothes for a day with good drinks" has a certain logic to it. Whether you're opening a bottle at home or heading out to a standing bar, that little "酒" on your chest is a conversation waiting to happen.
