The Organizers of "Wakate no Yoake" Open a Sake Shop in Takanawa, Stocking 90+ Breweries
KAMPAI Editorial
camo Inc., which took over management of the popular sake event "Wakate no Yoake" (Dawn of the Young Generation) in 2022 and also organizes "Konsai," will open a sake specialty store called "sakejump takanawa" on March 28 at NEWoMan TAKANAWA MIMURE (directly connected to Takanawa Gateway Station) on the third floor. The shop will carry sake and craft sake from over 90 breweries nationwide, combining retail, a bar counter, and event space under one roof. Announced via PR TIMES.
The store is a joint venture between camo and STABLES, a subsidiary of Lumine known for operating "800°DEGREES" and "2416MARKET" in Tokyo and Yokohama.
The Brewery List Tells a Story
A look at the brewery roster reveals a strong lean toward the new wave: Ine to Agave (Akita), haccoba (Fukushima), Pukupuku Jozo (Fukushima), Abe Shuzo (Niigata), and narai (Nagano) — names associated with craft sake and the younger generation of brewers. But established names are here too: Hakkaisan (Niigata), Hiraizumi (Akita), and Ugo no Tsuki (Hiroshima).
The list stretches from Kamikawa Taisetsu in Hokkaido to Mori Shuzo in Nagasaki. Four breweries from Ishikawa, five from Aichi, four from Yamaguchi. The geographic spread reflects the shape of camo's brewery network, built through years of event organizing.
Bar Counter and Onigiri
The shop includes a bar counter with paid tastings and pairing menus designed around sake. There's also onigiri (rice balls) and curated tea for visitors who don't drink. Sake vessels are sold on-site, and visiting brewer events are planned on a regular basis.
Building a Store That Means Something
camo CEO Aki Kawana has said the shop is about creating "a place that can keep delivering without relying on temporary booms" — a sustainable retail model that supports small and young breweries through fair pricing and long-term relationships.
Takanawa Gateway is one of Tokyo's newest development areas. For camo, a company that built its name connecting brewers and drinkers through events, opening a permanent shop is a different kind of bet. The doors open March 28.
